26 Color Silkscreen Corona-Magnani, 400gsm. - Image: 26.2 x 43.8 inches. Paper: 30.8 x 49.25 inches // Landscape by Alex Katz, created in 2017, is a silkscreen print that captures the tranquil expanse of a serene coastal scene. Rendered in 26 colors on Corona-Magnani paper, the composition is defined by its vast simplicity and horizontal layering of elements. The sky is pale and stretches endlessly, meeting a calm, reflective body of water in soft blue hues. In the distance, a slim strip of land spans the horizon, dotted with minimal details of trees and boats, adding to the sense of peaceful isolation. This limited edition print exemplifies Katz’s mastery of distilling nature into powerful yet simple imagery.

What is Nouveau Realism?
Nouveau Réalisme is an artistic movement founded in 1960 by art critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein during a collective exhibition at a gallery in Milan. Restany wrote the original manifesto in April 1960, proclaiming the movement. In October of that year, nine artists, including Martial Raysse, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Arman, Pierre Restany, and three Ultra-Lettrists—Jacques de la Villeglé, François Dufrêne, and Raymond Hains—signed the declaration. In 1961, the movement expanded to include Mimmo Rotella, Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps, and César. The movement emphasized a return to reality in art, often incorporating everyday objects and exploring the boundaries between art and life.
