Original lithograph in colors on wove paper - Hand-signed and numbered in pencil // Homage to Frank O'Hara by Alex Katz, created in 1972, is a limited edition lithograph that honors the poet Frank O'Hara. The portrait is rendered in Katz's signature flat, minimalist style, using soft tones and simplified forms. The subject's pale skin, golden hair, and calm expression are framed by a brown coat and a green shirt, evoking a serene, almost ethereal presence. Katz’s use of color blocking and sharp lines creates a sense of abstraction while retaining the essence of the individual, a hallmark of his portrait work. This print is hand-signed and numbered by Katz and is part of a limited edition of 90.

What is Nouveau Realism?
Nouveau Réalisme is an artistic movement founded in 1960 by art critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein during a collective exhibition at a gallery in Milan. Restany wrote the original manifesto in April 1960, proclaiming the movement. In October of that year, nine artists, including Martial Raysse, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Arman, Pierre Restany, and three Ultra-Lettrists—Jacques de la Villeglé, François Dufrêne, and Raymond Hains—signed the declaration. In 1961, the movement expanded to include Mimmo Rotella, Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps, and César. The movement emphasized a return to reality in art, often incorporating everyday objects and exploring the boundaries between art and life.
