'Palmito Ranch, from Benjamin Moore Series' by Frank Stella is a 1971 lithograph measuring 40.6 × 55.9 cm. A warm golden-yellow square, filled with evenly spaced horizontal white lines, sits anchored to the lower-left of an otherwise bare off-white sheet — the surrounding negative space occupying roughly two-thirds of the composition. The work belongs to the 'Benjamin Moore Series', named after the American paint brand and among Stella's most recognised print suites from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Each print in the series takes its title from a Benjamin Moore paint colour, with flat, unmodulated hues applied in ruled stripe formations — a direct extension of the systematic, non-relational approach Stella first pursued in his landmark 1959 black stripe paintings.

What is Systems Art?
Systems Art refers to a group of artists who, during the late 1960s and early 1970s, used the frameworks of conceptualism and minimalism to create art that was responsive to its environment. Rejecting traditional art themes, they embraced aesthetic systems and experimented with diverse media. Systems Art often connected with contemporary political movements of the time, emphasizing the interrelationship between the artwork, its context, and the broader social and political environment.
