// Double Grey Scramble (AXSOM 93) by Frank Stella, created in 1973, is a vibrant screen-print that exemplifies Stella's exploration of geometric abstraction and color theory. Measuring 73.5 x 128.9 cm, this limited edition artwork consists of two large square compositions side by side, each filled with concentric squares in an array of colors that shift in tonal gradients. The left panel predominantly features cool colors, while the right panel contrasts with warmer hues. The interplay of color and form creates an optical effect, drawing the viewer into a rhythmic, almost pulsating visual experience. This work captures Stella's fascination with symmetry and the dynamic interaction between color and structure.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
