Lithograph on J. Green mould-made paper - Signed, dated and numbered in pencil - Published by Petersburg Press, Ltd., London. // Frank Stella's Honduras Lottery Co (1972) is part of his renowned Multicolored Squares series, showcasing his exploration of geometric abstraction through bold color and precise form. This lithograph presents a series of concentric squares, each bordered in vibrant, alternating colors—purples, greens, oranges, and blues—that radiate from a small central square outward. The meticulous alignment of these colorful bands creates an optical effect, drawing the viewer’s eye to the depth and harmony within the composition. Set against a wide expanse of white space, the vibrant square becomes a focal point, symbolizing both complexity and clarity. Printed on J. Green mould-made paper, this work is signed, dated, and numbered in pencil by the artist and comes from a limited edition of 100. Honduras Lottery Co encapsulates Stella's mastery in transforming simple shapes into visually compelling statements.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
