Abstract art

What is abstract art?

Abstract art uses form, shape, line, and color to create a visual experience without attempting to represent external reality. The composition exists independently of the world's visual references, focusing on expressing ideas and emotions through non-representational means.

Matter painting

Matter painting is a technique that involves blending thick impasto paints with materials like cement, mud, sand, or shells. The term first emerged in the 1950s to describe the works of Belgian and Dutch painters who explored the physical properties of painting materials and the different ways paint could be manipulated. This approach emphasizes texture and the tactile qualities of the surface, creating a sculptural effect on the canvas.

Animation

Animation is the process of displaying a sequence of static images in rapid succession to create the illusion of movement. Each image, or frame, is slightly altered from the previous one, particularly in the moving parts, so when shown together, they form a continuous motion. Traditionally, illustrators drew each frame by hand to produce this effect.

Generative Art

Generative art refers to art that is wholly or partly created through an autonomous system. This system can be independent or non-human, capable of determining features that would otherwise be decided by the artist. The generative system can act as the creator or as a collaborator with the artist. Generative art often refers to works generated algorithmically by computers, where the system plays a significant role in the creation process.
