Pello Irazu has been an award winning sculptor since the early 1980s. He is one of the artists who have brought about a renewal of contemporary sculpture in Spain and the Basque country. He also produces photographic works, drawings, lithographs and installation art.
Pello Irazu’s style of art is a blend of constructivism, minimalism and conceptualism. Pello Irazu studied fine arts at the University of Paid Vasco in Leoia, from 1981 to 1986, where he specialized in the study of sculpture. In 1982 he was awarded an art grant by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the following year he won a Basque sculpture prize.

What is minimalism?

What is minimalism?

Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
