Andy Warhol's Flash - November 22, 1963, II.42, 1968, screen-print depicting John F. Kennedy’s portrait in red and blue, highlighting media imagery.

- Hand-signed by artist // Andy Warhol's Flash - November 22, 1963, II.42 (1968) is a striking screen-print that reflects Warhol's fascination with media, politics, and celebrity culture. This limited edition piece, part of a series of 200, explores the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Rendered in vivid red and blue, the artwork features a duplicated and manipulated image of Kennedy’s portrait, emphasizing both the iconography and the visual language of mass media. The bold colors and overlapping images create a sense of urgency and fragmentation, echoing the chaos and media frenzy surrounding the event. The work, hand-signed by Warhol, captures his commentary on the commercialization and spectacle of political figures, blending tragedy and pop culture in his iconic style.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
