'Photon from the album Diam' by Victor Vasarely is a serigraph from 1988, measuring 70 × 62 cm, hand-signed and from a numbered edition. The composition is built from interlocking rhombuses and hexagonal clusters arranged across a deep blue field. Colour temperature shifts radially: cool maroon, ochre, and lavender dominate the outer ring, giving way to a warmer central zone of yellow, mint green, and pink that creates a strong sense of convexity without any actual three-dimensional form. Vasarely spent decades systematically encoding optical depth into flat, repeating geometric units — a method he called his 'plastic alphabet' — and this print is a direct product of that system. The 'Diam' album, released late in his career, applied the approach to diamond-based grids, making the perceptual push-and-pull between figure and ground particularly pronounced.
