'Ingau from the album Diam' by Victor Vasarely is a serigraph measuring 62 × 70 cm, from 1988. Three human-like figures — rendered entirely in interlocking geometric blocks — stride across alternating black and white vertical bands. Each figure occupies one colour family: red on the left, yellow-ochre and brown at centre, green on the right. Shading within each block sequence creates the impression of three-dimensional, angular limbs in motion. Vasarely, the leading figure of the Op Art movement, built his practice around the principle that the idea, not the object, holds primacy — which drove his commitment to the editioned print as a democratic art form. This work belongs to the Diam album, a series that applies his geometric figuration to an architectural, almost modular human form, demonstrating how his visual system could extend from abstract grid compositions into recognisable, if cuboid, bodies.
