'Diam from the album Diam' by Victor Vasarely is a serigraph measuring 70 × 62 cm, hand-signed by the artist and from a numbered edition. Against a black ground, two interlocking cubic forms are built entirely from diamond-shaped units — each facet filled with a distinct flat colour drawn from a wide spectrum of reds, blues, greens, oranges, purples and yellows. The systematic tonal shift across each face — darker at the receding planes, lighter at the projecting ones — produces the appearance of three-dimensional volume from purely flat geometry. Vasarely developed this modular approach as the theoretical core of Op Art, arguing that the idea, not the unique object, carries artistic value. The 'Diam' series applies that principle through the serigraph medium, which allowed his precisely coded colour-form units to be reproduced and disseminated widely — consistent with his belief in democratic, reproducible art.
