Two sweeping black wing-forms converge at the apex against a deep crimson ground, their dark mass evoking the mourning that runs through Motherwell's lifelong engagement with Spanish history. In the triangular gap between the black masses, a yellow-ochre flame-like gesture flickers upward, an emblem of defiance amid darkness. Heavy gestural marks anchor the base.
