Diasec-mounted giclee print on aluminium. Not signed. // A blurred bouquet of bright yellow tulips bursts open in a glass vase wrapped with brown twine, set against a softly graded beige ground. The image is Richter's signature out-of-focus photo-painting, here translated as a diasec-mounted giclée on aluminium — a perfectly resolved object of his unmistakable photographic-painterly idiom. Tulpen belongs to his late floral group, among the most beloved of his recent images. To acquire a Richter still life is to live with the calmest and most generous face of one of the most important living artists at the height of his late maturity.

What is Capitalist Realism?
Capitalist Realism is a German form of political pop art that emerged in Cold War-era Berlin in 1963. It sought to challenge the dominance of American pop art in the Western world. The movement blended the ideologies of both pop art and socialist realism, offering a critique of consumer culture and political power.
