Print on paper. Hand-signed by artist. // Richter's image for the cover of Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation reissue: a single ivory candle, lit, casts soft light across a beige wall, against a deep velvet-black foreground; SONIC YOUTH / DAYDREAM NATION is set in white sans-serif at the top. Hand-signed Richter at lower right in black marker. The most desirable music-art collaboration of his career, this rare hand-signed print closes the loop between his iconic Candle paintings of the 1980s and one of the most important albums in American rock. A confident, dual-canon acquisition to collect.

What is photorealism?
Photorealism is a genre of art or artistic movement that involves drawing, painting, and other graphic media in which the artist carefully studies a photograph and attempts to reproduce it as realistically as possible in another medium. While the term can broadly describe any artwork created in this manner, it specifically refers to a group of painters and paintings in the U.S. art movement that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
