Five-color printing using the hybrid process (combination of offset and digital printing) on 260g Rives handmade paper - Issued by Kunsthaus Zurich on occasion of Gerhard Richter ‘Landschaft’ exhibition., not signed // Gerhard Richter's Eis (Ice) (2021) is a limited edition print created using a five-color hybrid printing process, combining offset and digital techniques. This atmospheric piece captures the quiet and desolate beauty of an icy landscape. With muted tones of blue, grey, and white, the image depicts floating icebergs and a calm, reflective body of water that merges with the horizon under a cloudy sky. The soft, almost blurred effect gives the print an ethereal, dreamlike quality, characteristic of Richter's approach to portraying landscapes. Issued by Kunsthaus Zurich for Richter's Landschaft exhibition, the work invites contemplation of the natural environment and its fragile, transient state. The print is not signed, emphasizing its edition and connection to the exhibition context.

What is photorealism?

Photorealism is a genre of art or artistic movement that involves drawing, painting, and other graphic media in which the artist carefully studies a photograph and attempts to reproduce it as realistically as possible in another medium. While the term can broadly describe any artwork created in this manner, it specifically refers to a group of painters and paintings in the U.S. art movement that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
