Color Screenprint on paper - Suite: New York International Portfolio - Hand signed by the artist - Blindstamp: Chiron Press NY lower left // Boom Boom by Arman Fernandez, created in 1966, is a limited edition screen-print that features a chaotic yet striking arrangement of overlapping gun silhouettes. The composition includes predominantly black outlines and solid shapes, punctuated by a vivid red handgun in the center, creating a focal point amidst the surrounding forms. The layering of guns evokes a sense of repetition and mass production, reflecting Arman’s exploration of consumerism and violence. The use of negative space and contrasting colors adds to the dynamic tension of the piece. This work was part of the New York International Portfolio and carries a social commentary on the proliferation of weapons.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
