With the stamped signature and date, numbered on the reverse // Keith Haring’s ‘Story of Red and Blue #17’ is a limited edition lithograph from 1989, blending his iconic visual language with bold symbolism. The piece portrays a stylized human head, outlined in thick black strokes, with abstract forms filling its contours. Red and blue strokes dominate the composition, forming dynamic patterns that suggest movement and tension. A circular coil encircles the neck, evoking restraint or containment, while the loops and spirals within the head add an element of introspection or chaos. The figure’s exaggerated simplicity contrasts with the deeper emotional undertones, a hallmark of Haring’s work. This lithograph, from an edition of 90, exemplifies his fusion of simplicity and depth.

What is East Village Art?
In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
