Lenticular acrylic panel in a brushed aluminium frame, specified by the artist.
Hand-signed and numbered on the reverse.
'Amelia from Children Walking' by Julian Opie is an installation measuring 83.8 × 52.1 × 2.5 cm. A single child is rendered in profile mid-stride — dark outline, brown ponytail, white top, blue shorts, flat shoes — against a pale grey-blue ground. The figure carries Opie's hallmark graphic vocabulary: bold black contours, flat colour fills, and the deliberate erasure of facial features that strips identity down to type rather than individual. A distinctive motion-blur effect layers multiple semi-transparent offsets of the figure, giving the impression of frames from a looped animation. Opie, associated with the New British Sculpture movement, draws on Japanese woodblock prints and billboard graphics in equal measure, and his 'Walking' series has become a sustained vehicle for studying how we read the human body in motion as a sign rather than a portrait.

What is contemporary art?
Contemporary art refers to avant-garde or innovative art created in the recent past or present day.
