Color changing lenticular acrylic panel mounted with 3mm diabond presented in a white wooden frame // Shirt from Crossing by Julian Opie is a minimalist mixed media piece that highlights Opie’s characteristic style of abstracted human figures. The artwork depicts the silhouette of a figure walking with hands in pockets, rendered in bold orange and red tones against a gradient background that shifts from deep purple to lighter shades. The clean, simplified lines of the figure are a hallmark of Opie’s work, creating a universally recognizable form. The lenticular acrylic panel enhances the sense of movement, allowing the colors to change dynamically depending on the viewer's angle, further emphasizing the fluidity of the figure’s walk.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
