Published by Landfall Press Inc Chicago - Suite: (Some) Not Realized Projects - Hand Signed by Christo Christo’s The Museum of Modern Art Wrapped Project for New York (1971) is a lithograph from the Some Not Realized Projects series, envisioning his conceptual plan to wrap the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in fabric. Known for his large-scale environmental interventions, Christo uses photorealistic collage and drawing techniques to depict the imagined transformation of urban landmarks. The composition juxtaposes the draped museum—rendered with meticulous shading and texture—against the bustling New York City streets, highlighting themes of temporality and altered perception. Published by Landfall Press in a rare limited edition, this work exemplifies Christo’s vision of reimagining familiar spaces through monumental fabric installations.

What is site specific art?
Site-Specific Art is a form of artwork created to exist in a particular location, with the artist considering the site as an integral part of the creative process. Robert Irwin was a key figure in promoting this art form in California. Site-Specific Art emerged as a reaction against modernist objects, which were often portable, commodified, and confined to museum spaces. In contrast, Site-Specific Art is inherently tied to its location, challenging the traditional notions of art as a transportable and marketable commodity.
