// Swish and Swallow by León Ferrari, a limited edition lithograph from 2009, merges text and imagery to create a piece that explores themes of communication and media. At the center of the artwork, a small newspaper clipping is surrounded by hand-written text, seemingly flowing around and intertwining with the central article. The organic, looping script creates a sense of rhythm, mimicking the natural flow of thoughts or the swirling of ideas around a focal point. Ferrari’s work often challenges traditional forms, blending text and imagery to encourage contemplation on the interaction between public media and personal narrative.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
