Silkscreen // Keith Haring's Pop Shop I (D) (1987) is a silkscreen print that captures his iconic use of vibrant color and bold, simplified figures. The artwork showcases two figures in dynamic interaction: a purple figure lifts a teal figure overhead, set against a bright yellow background. The black outlines and energetic lines surrounding the figures convey movement and excitement, hallmarks of Haring's work. The composition is framed with a thick black border, grounding the playful action within a contained space. This piece, part of Haring’s Pop Shop series, reflects his desire to make art accessible and engaging, emphasizing themes of community, support, and human connection.

What is East Village Art?
In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
