Etching with hand coloring Image: 27 h x 21.375 w in (69 x 54 cm) Hand signed and numbered in lower margin Published by Petersburg Press, London. Literature: Williams College 32 Jim Dine’s The Realistic Poet Assassinated (1971) is an expressive etching with hand coloring, reflecting his signature blend of gestural mark-making and symbolic imagery. The composition features a loosely sketched figure in a top hat, a heart, a star, a hand, and a pair of bent legs, all rendered with spontaneous, scribbled lines that evoke a sense of movement and raw emotion. The inclusion of small hand-painted color swatches at the bottom adds a personal, painterly touch to the monochrome print. Created in a limited edition of 75, this work exemplifies Dine’s ability to merge abstraction with figurative elements, evoking themes of identity, memory, and poetic mystery.

What is Neo-Dada?
Neo-Dada is a minor visual and audio art movement with intents similar to those of Dada artwork. While it revives some of Dada's objectives, Neo-Dada emphasizes the importance of the produced artwork rather than the concept behind it. The movement is considered the foundation of Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme, and Fluxus. Neo-Dada is known for its use of absurdist contrasts, popular imagery, and modern materials, blending high and low culture in a way that challenges traditional artistic conventions.
