Screenprint, etching with aquatint printed in colours and hand-colouring, on Arches paper. Signed, dated and inscribed ‘P/P’ in pencil, a printer's proof aside from the edition of 18. Printed by Jack Shirreff at 107 Workshop, Wiltshire. Literature: Carpenter 19. Running Hammers in a Landscape (1987) by Jim Dine is a vivid and dynamic print combining screenprint, etching, aquatint, and hand-colouring. The composition features a surreal procession of upright hammers, set against an expressive landscape of swirling skies and grassy textures. Each hammer appears animated, almost marching forward, turning a mundane tool into a forceful presence. The energetic marks and layered textures exemplify Dine’s gestural approach to printmaking, while the repetition of the hammer motif—frequently seen in his work—references labor, identity, and personal symbolism. Printed as a printer’s proof outside the edition of 18, this piece showcases Dine’s ability to merge everyday objects with psychological intensity and painterly technique.

What is Neo-Dada?
Neo-Dada is a minor visual and audio art movement with intents similar to those of Dada artwork. While it revives some of Dada's objectives, Neo-Dada emphasizes the importance of the produced artwork rather than the concept behind it. The movement is considered the foundation of Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme, and Fluxus. Neo-Dada is known for its use of absurdist contrasts, popular imagery, and modern materials, blending high and low culture in a way that challenges traditional artistic conventions.
