Yayoi Kusama Mt. Fuji Is The Home of My Heart woodcut with stylized Mount Fuji, bold dots, and vivid red blue and purple colors

Woodcut in colours, on Echizen Kizuki Hosho paper, with full margins. Signed, numbered, dated and titled on the front. Mt. Fuji Is The Home of My Heart (Kusama 401) by Yayoi Kusama is a 2014 woodcut printed in colors on Echizen Kizuki Hosho paper. The composition presents Mount Fuji as a simplified, iconic form rising between bands of sky and earth, animated by Kusama’s signature use of repeated dots and rhythmic marks. Vivid reds, blues, and purples are layered with contrasting black lines, transforming the landscape into a pulsating field of pattern and emotion. Rather than a naturalistic depiction, the mountain becomes a personal and symbolic presence, reflecting Kusama’s lifelong engagement with repetition, memory, and inner vision. Measuring 50.8 × 67.5 cm, the print was produced in an edition of 120 and is signed, numbered, dated, and titled on the front, underscoring its place within her celebrated graphic practice.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
