Signed, titled, dated and numbered on the front. Dancing Pumpkin (YOR) (Kusama 321) by Yayoi Kusama is a 2004 screenprint that transforms her iconic pumpkin motif into a dynamic, almost animated form. The pumpkin appears to undulate and twist, its segmented body defined by dense fields of dots that vary in scale and density. Warm yellow and orange tones pulse against a richly patterned red background, creating a strong optical rhythm and a sense of internal movement. The flowing contours suggest dance and vitality, shifting the pumpkin from a static object into an expressive, living presence. Measuring 50 × 66 cm, the work was produced in an edition of 80 and is signed, titled, dated, and numbered on the front, exemplifying Kusama’s mature exploration of repetition, energy, and psychological intensity through printmaking.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
