'Plate 10 from Le Lézard aux Plumes d'or' by Joan Miró is a lithograph from 1967, measuring 40.5 × 55.5 cm. Against a white ground, a splattered field of red dominates the left-centre, threaded through with looping black lines that coil and branch like calligraphic script. To the right, a large crescent form in textured grey — speckled with darker dots — anchors the composition alongside patches of blue, yellow, and green. Miró produced Le Lézard aux Plumes d'or ('The Lizard with Golden Feathers') as an artist's book in collaboration with poet Jacques Dupin, one of his closest long-term interpreters. The suite sits firmly within Miró's mature printmaking practice, in which primary colour masses and biomorphic forms drawn from his Surrealist vocabulary are disciplined by the structural demands of lithography.

What is abstract art?
Abstract art uses form, shape, line, and color to create a visual experience without attempting to represent external reality. The composition exists independently of the world's visual references, focusing on expressing ideas and emotions through non-representational means.
