Lithograph in colors, on Arches paper. Image size 78 x 58 cm. Sheet size 94 x 70 cm. Signed and numbered in pencil. Published by Fundació Joan Miró, Literature: Fernand Mourlot 1210. Joan Miró’s Obra Gràfica (Graphic Work) (1980) is a colour lithograph on Arches paper that presents a playful, stylized figure defined by bold black contours and filled with vivid patches of yellow, blue, red, and green. The character’s exaggerated eye and fragmented body evoke a sense of childlike imagination, while splattered textures surrounding the form introduce spontaneity and depth. Published by the Fundació Joan Miró and printed in a limited edition, the work reflects Miró’s late-period exploration of simplified forms, gestural marks, and poetic symbolism rooted in his enduring Surrealist vocabulary.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
