Color Secuencia 9

Julio Le Parc’s Color Secuencia 10, vibrant lithograph of colorful circles in a grid pattern, creating a gradient and optical illusion of movement.

Lithograph on Super Alfa paper // Julio Le Parc’s Color Secuencia 10 is a vibrant lithograph that explores the interaction of color and geometric form. The composition is an arrangement of colorful circles placed in a grid pattern, creating a mesmerizing gradient of hues that flow seamlessly across the artwork. The precise alignment of the circles, paired with the vibrant spectrum of colors, results in an optical effect where the viewer perceives movement and rhythm within the static image. Le Parc, known for his kinetic and Op art, manipulates color sequences to create a dynamic visual experience that challenges perception. This lithograph on Super Alfa paper exemplifies his continued exploration of light, form, and color. Signed and numbered, Color Secuencia 10 is a testament to Le Parc’s mastery of optical play.

What is kinetic art?

Kinetic art is an international movement that emerged in the 1920s and gained prominence in the 1960s, referring to art that involves both apparent and real motion. It encompasses any medium that includes movement, either relying on actual motion for its effect or being perceived as moving by the viewer. Early examples include canvas paintings designed to create optical illusions of movement. Today, kinetic art often refers to three-dimensional figures and sculptures, such as those operated by machines or those that move naturally. The movement covers a variety of styles and techniques that frequently overlap.
