Lithograph in colors - Signed and dated lower right and numbered lower left in pencil // Roy Lichtenstein's Haystack #1 (1969) is a limited edition lithograph that exemplifies his signature pop art style and use of Ben-Day dots. The artwork features a yellow, dotted pattern forming an abstract representation of a haystack, reminiscent of Lichtenstein's take on impressionist themes. The simplified forms and uniform dots create a sense of texture and depth, while the bright yellow hue energizes the composition. By translating a traditional subject into his iconic graphic language, Lichtenstein both pays homage to art history and reinterprets it through a modern, commercial lens. The print is signed, dated, and numbered in pencil, reflecting its status as a collectible piece.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
