Ink on newsprint, signed in pencil verso // Untitled (Angular Face) by Joe Bradley is a limited edition ink print from 2014 that presents a rough, expressive rendering of a face using minimalist strokes on newsprint. The artwork features a geometric, angular form, with bold lines suggesting facial features such as an eye and mouth. Bradley's choice of newsprint as a medium, combined with the textured, almost smudged ink application, imparts a raw, ephemeral quality to the piece. This simplicity captures an essence of abstraction, reminiscent of primitive or childlike drawing styles, inviting viewers to explore the interplay between spontaneity and form in contemporary art.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
