A couple of influences for his garment-making stem from his encounter with Amish quilt-making and Pennsylvania redware pottery.

Ruby uses his diverse background to find tension in art. The tension in his art can come from pressures in society to revealing how architecture can influence human psychology.

His multifaceted abilities have allowed Ruby to collaborate with designer Raf Simons for brands including Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, and Simon's own label. Ruby has also collaborated on a number of dance projects. Ruby is the epitome of an artist. The multiple mediums he can use can be an advantage. It can open up freedom of expression once he finds the tension for his art and how to express it.
