The words HERE / AND / NOW appear in large red capitals, interrupted by soft blue spray-like bands, while the surrounding frame is labeled with the cardinal directions. Printed and published by Gemini G.E.L. in an edition of 75 plus 20 artist’s proofs, the work reflects Ruscha’s long-standing interest in words as both visual form and cultural signal. Its mix of precision and atmospheric blur gives the phrase a double meaning: immediate and present, yet slightly unstable, as if place and time are always shifting.
