Daniel Spoerri is a Swiss artist who is well known for his art, snare-pictures. In this signature, Spoerri details a collection of objects notably meal remains, glasses, plates, and silverware secured on a board or table then depicted on a wall. As a young man, Spoerri developed an interest in dance and decided to join Olga Preobrajenska to study classical dance in 1950. He then went on to become the lead dancer at the State Opera of Bern in Switzerland in 1954. Subsequent years saw him stage a variety of avant-garde plays among them being the Bald Soprano, and the Desire Trapped by the Tail. In 1960, Spoerri came up with his first ever snare picture, and it is this same year that he came to be among the signatories that fostered the manifesto of New Realism. He also authored a book which he referred to as the Anecdoted Topography of Chance which was an annotation of the objects in his rooms. Daniel currently stays in Tuscany in Italy. (Artist website)
