Carlos Cruz-Diez's Serie Semana - Miércoles lithograph with intersecting vibrant stripes creating dynamic optical effects.

// Carlos Cruz-Diez's Serie Semana - Miércoles (2013) is a vivid lithograph that embodies the artist's pioneering exploration of color theory and optical effects. Composed of intersecting stripes and geometric shapes in vibrant hues, the work creates a dynamic, vibrating effect that shifts as the viewer's perspective changes. Cruz-Diez’s mastery of kinetic art and his understanding of chromatic phenomena are evident in the overlapping layers of color, which appear to pulse and transform with motion, creating an engaging optical experience. This print reflects his commitment to the idea that color is a lived experience, constantly changing with the viewer's position, light, and perception.

What is geometric abstract art?

Geometric abstraction is a form of abstract art that uses geometric shapes arranged in a non-illusionistic space (though not always) and combined into non-representational (non-objective) compositions. Based on years of artistic research, some artists have proposed that geometric abstraction offers a solution to modern challenges by rejecting traditional illusionistic practices in favor of clarity and simplicity.
