Carlos Cruz-Diez’s Couleur additive perseus 2 is a screenprint on paper from 2017 that exemplifies his investigation into color as a dynamic, perceptual phenomenon. Composed of finely spaced vertical lines, the work produces shifting diagonal bands in pink, green, yellow, and violet that seem to transform with the viewer’s movement. Rather than depicting fixed forms, the image unfolds through optical interaction, creating a sense of vibration and fluidity. A leading figure in kinetic and Op Art, Cruz-Diez developed “additive color” structures to explore how color exists independently in space. Signed in pencil and printed in an edition of 50, the work reflects his enduring focus on chromatic experience.
