32 Color Silkscreen - Edition of 88 - Oilstick over silkscreen on paper - Hand-painted by the artist 0 54 x 41 inches (137.2 x 104.1 cm) - Signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil // Two Undetermined Lines by Bernar Venet, created in 1990, is a mixed media work combining silkscreen with oilstick on paper. This limited edition print presents a twisted, looping form rendered in earthy tones, evoking the appearance of rusted metal or bent steel. The lines seem to coil organically, suggesting a sense of spontaneity despite the solidity of the material. Venet, known for his explorations of indeterminate forms and abstract lines, uses this piece to invite viewers to engage with the unpredictability of line and shape. The raw, industrial aesthetic contrasts with the delicacy of its presentation on paper, making this signed and numbered work a thought-provoking study of form and fluidity.

What is Nouveau Realism?
Nouveau Réalisme is an artistic movement founded in 1960 by art critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein during a collective exhibition at a gallery in Milan. Restany wrote the original manifesto in April 1960, proclaiming the movement. In October of that year, nine artists, including Martial Raysse, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Arman, Pierre Restany, and three Ultra-Lettrists—Jacques de la Villeglé, François Dufrêne, and Raymond Hains—signed the declaration. In 1961, the movement expanded to include Mimmo Rotella, Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps, and César. The movement emphasized a return to reality in art, often incorporating everyday objects and exploring the boundaries between art and life.
