This original screenprint in colors was created in 2004. Signed by the artist in pencil, titled, dated and numbered, from the edition of 30 measuring 19 ½ x 25 ½ in. (49.5 x 64.8 cm.). // Combination of Random Indeterminate Lines by Bernar Venet is a limited edition screen-print from 2004, signed, titled, dated, and numbered by the artist. This piece, part of an edition of 30, showcases Venet's exploration of line and form, a hallmark of his abstract approach. The composition features dark, gestural lines that intersect and coil in a seemingly random yet dynamic configuration, evoking a sense of spontaneity and controlled chaos. The work’s simplicity is deceptive, as the seemingly arbitrary lines create a harmonious interplay of movement and stillness. Venet’s focus on indeterminate forms challenges viewers to find patterns in what initially appears as disorder, inviting contemplation on the boundaries between randomness and intentionality.

What is Nouveau Realism?
Nouveau Réalisme is an artistic movement founded in 1960 by art critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein during a collective exhibition at a gallery in Milan. Restany wrote the original manifesto in April 1960, proclaiming the movement. In October of that year, nine artists, including Martial Raysse, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Arman, Pierre Restany, and three Ultra-Lettrists—Jacques de la Villeglé, François Dufrêne, and Raymond Hains—signed the declaration. In 1961, the movement expanded to include Mimmo Rotella, Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps, and César. The movement emphasized a return to reality in art, often incorporating everyday objects and exploring the boundaries between art and life.
