Original handcoloured lithograph. Hand-signed and numbered. // This intimate handcoloured lithograph by Atsushi Kaga presents Usacchi the rabbit navigating another chapter of daily existence with the character's signature blend of curiosity and hesitation. The second work in the 2024 series deepens the autobiographical narrative, revealing new facets of the rabbit protagonist's inner world through subtle shifts in posture and setting. Kaga's masterful hand-colouring varies from impression to impression, making each print a unique encounter. The lithographic line retains a spontaneous quality that gives Usacchi a palpable sense of life, as though the character might wander off the page at any moment.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
