Naive art

What is Naive Art?

Naïve art describes a style of artwork that is simple and unsophisticated, often created by artists without formal training in an academy or art school. The style is characterized by a lack of advanced techniques, giving it a childlike appearance. Naïve art often features bright colors, simple shapes, and a straightforward approach to subject matter, reflecting the artist's untrained perspective.

Dau Al Set

Dau Al Set was an artistic movement that sought to express both the conscious and unconscious mind through art. Initially an offshoot of Surrealism, it evolved into a distinct movement over time. Founded in Catalonia post-World War II, Dau Al Set was the first artistic movement in the region after the war. The name Dau Al Set translates to the seventh face of the dice in Catalan, symbolizing the movement's unique and unconventional character.

Process Art

Process Art is an artistic movement and creative approach where the focus is on the act of creation rather than the final product. The term process in this context refers to the various stages of art-making, including gathering, sorting, associating, and organizing materials and actions. This movement emphasizes the artistic journey and the human expression involved in creating art, rather than the finished piece itself. Process Art is driven by inherent motivation, intentionality, and the rationale behind the actions, viewing the creative process as the true artwork.

Grupo Ruptura

Grupo Ruptura was an organization formed in Brazil by artists who sought to break away from traditional naturalist painting in favor of geometric abstract art. In the early 1950s, the group published the Ruptura Manifesto, advocating for new art for a new country. The manifesto emphasized a departure from the past and a commitment to innovation, aligning with the modernist vision of Brazil as a forward-looking nation.
