Yin Kun

Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

A contemporary Chinese artist, Yin Kun’s paintings provide a comical yet thought-provoking take on the societal and cultural facets of life in China. Kun’s art follows the traditional Pop Art style – his subjects are often depicted with full faces and rosy cheeks, and these subjects can range from babies to military officials.
Although the use of vibrant colour and cartoon-like subjects add a light, comical air to his work, there are also themes of the underlying sinister events that mark Chinese history – Kun has managed to strike the perfect balance that analyses these injustices, while inviting viewers to find the hope for brighter futures – his unique take on bridging the gap between good and evil, light and dark makes his work accessible and relatable to a wider demographic.

What is Chinese contemporary art?

What is Chinese contemporary art?

Chinese Contemporary art is characterized by a profusion of styles and experimental tendencies. Avant- garde exhibitions in the 1980s were closed by government officials, while 1990s political pop and cynical realism emerged. China’s One Child policy also inspired the individual as subject matter.
