Watercolour on paper. Dedication verso. // On a pale ground, Party sketches a half-comic Renaissance noble: red skullcap with black tassel, jowled face with luxurious upturned mustache, narrow blue eyes, broad fluted grey ruff collar, deep red robe. Equal parts court portraitist and caricaturist, the painter borrows Holbein's air and Bruegel's wit. Watercolour on paper with dedication verso. Among his smaller, most playful intimate works on paper, this face shows Party at his most narratively wry — a characterful acquisition to collect from one of the most followed contemporary painters working internationally.

What is site specific art?
Site-Specific Art is a form of artwork created to exist in a particular location, with the artist considering the site as an integral part of the creative process. Robert Irwin was a key figure in promoting this art form in California. Site-Specific Art emerged as a reaction against modernist objects, which were often portable, commodified, and confined to museum spaces. In contrast, Site-Specific Art is inherently tied to its location, challenging the traditional notions of art as a transportable and marketable commodity.
