// Tan Lines by Miles Aldridge is a vibrant and striking 2019 screen print, capturing the saturated colors and glamorous allure of contemporary fashion photography. In this composition, a model reclines on a bright inflatable pool float, clad in a vivid orange bikini and sporting a reflective visor that partially obscures her face. The hyperreal aesthetic, with its bold hues and polished surfaces, evokes a sense of artificiality, commenting on themes of beauty, luxury, and the pursuit of perfection. Aldridge’s characteristic style merges a cinematic quality with a pop-art sensibility, making this limited edition print (one of only 15) a vivid exploration of modern aesthetics and identity.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
