Screen-print in colors on paper; Hand-signed and numbered verso in pencil // Better Than Life by Miles Aldridge is a vibrant, retro-inspired screen print that exemplifies Aldridge’s exploration of mid-century aesthetics with a surreal twist. Created in 2017, this limited edition print features a blonde woman in bright yellow pants, sitting in an introspective pose surrounded by kitschy decor and a rich array of vintage objects. Her direct gaze and the warm tones of her surroundings, including pastel pinks, yellows, and purples, create a dreamlike atmosphere. The exaggerated styling, coupled with a sense of isolation, comments on the artificial nature of the idealized domestic scenes from the 1950s and 60s. Printed in lush colors, the image invites viewers into a nostalgic yet unsettling world that combines beauty with a sense of underlying unease. Hand-signed and numbered by Aldridge, this piece is part of an exclusive edition of 15.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
