Lenticular acrylic panels and inkjet prints, mounted onto Dibond and contained in aluminium frame designed by the artist. Signed in ink and numbered on the label affixed to the frame verso. Published by Alan Cristea Gallery, London. Academic (from Walking in London II) by Julian Opie, created in 2014, is a lenticular acrylic work mounted on Dibond within an artist-designed aluminum frame. This piece presents a stylized figure mid-stride, rendered with thick black outlines and simplified forms. The overlapping imagery captures motion, simulating the act of walking through layered repetition. Set against a bright blue background, the figure, dressed in mustard trousers and a blue shirt, with a backpack slung over one shoulder, exemplifies Opie’s ongoing exploration of everyday life and movement using digital and graphic techniques.

What is new figuration?
Neo-Figurative Art is a collective term that refers to the revival of figurative art in America and Europe during the 1960s, following a period dominated by abstraction. Michel Ragon, a French art critic, argued that this resurgence of figuration occurred during a critical time of social and political upheaval in both regions.
