Original lithograph printed in colors on Arches wove paper. Proof impression apart from the numbered edition of 75, annotated in pencil lower left, one of 25 such proofs. Published by Maeght Editeur, Barcelona; printed by Damià Caus, Barcelona. Sheet size: 43.8 x 64.1 cm (17 1/4 x 25 1/4 in) Image size: 43.8 x 64.1 cm (17 1/4 x 25 1/4 in) Frame size: 54.0 x 73.7 x 5.1 cm (21 1/4 x 29 x 2 in)// Barcelona II belongs to the celebrated Barcelona series of lithographs in which Miró distilled the anarchic creative spirit of his native city into compositions of explosive graphic freedom. Bold biomorphic black forms — part creature, part constellation — anchor the sheet, while vivid splashes of green, red, blue, and pink activate the surrounding white space with controlled spontaneity. The interplay of dense lithographic ink and delicate spatter captures the dual nature of Miró's mature graphic language: primal energy harnessed by supreme compositional intelligence. Printed on Arches wove paper as a proof apart from the edition of seventy-five, this impression carries an intimacy and rarity that collectors of the artist's prints prize highly.

What is dada?
Also known as Dadaism, Dada was a literary and artistic movement that began in 1916 in Zurich, Switzerland. It emerged as a rejection of rationalism and nationalism, which were seen as contributing factors to World War I. The movement had political undertones and was strongly anti-war. Dada activities included demonstrations, gatherings, and the publication of literary and art journals that explored cultural and political topics.
