James Rosenquist’s Horse Blinders (North), 1972 mixed-media print with wood grain, blue arcs, and reflective silver foil panels.

Edition of 85 - Original lithograph and silkscreen with silver foil collage on Arches paper - Suite: From Horse Blinders: North South East West - Hand signed by Rosenquist - In excellent condition // Horse Blinders (North) by James Rosenquist, created in 1972, is a mixed-media print that combines lithography, silkscreen, and silver foil collage on Arches paper. Part of the Horse Blinders series, this piece juxtaposes contrasting visual elements across its wide format. On the left, an organic wood grain pattern with warm red and yellow tones is interrupted by a circular reflective area, evoking a sense of nature and texture. The central section features a vibrant blue field with white arcs, suggestive of movement or waves, creating a modern, graphic contrast. On the right, reflective silver foil panels introduce a metallic and industrial feel, adding a tactile and luminous dimension to the composition. Rosenquist’s work often merges abstract and symbolic forms to explore themes of perception and modernity. This limited edition print is hand-signed by the artist, underscoring its uniqueness and collectibility.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
