The plate, measuring 47 cm in diameter, overlays a die-cut lithograph that displays a layered image of the night sky and celestial motifs, including repeated and rotated impressions of Parmenides’ face. This visual arrangement suggests an orbit, metaphorically linking the philosopher's legacy with the cosmos. The sculpture is a profound exploration of time, space, and philosophical inquiry, drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek colony of Elea, home to the Eleatic School founded by Parmenides. By combining classical imagery with planetary symbols, Paolini invites the viewer to reflect on the cyclical nature of existence and knowledge, transcending geographical and temporal boundaries.
