Lithograph printed in colors - Hand-signed // Ed Ruscha's Thinks I, To Myself (2016) is a lithograph that employs text as its central visual element, showcasing his mastery in combining language and art. The artwork features the phrase THINKS I, TO MYSELF in a classic, serif font, printed in a rusty, reddish-brown hue against a light, textured background. The left side of the text appears to fade into an abstract brushstroke effect, creating a sense of motion and visual interest. This blend of typography and painterly technique reflects Ruscha’s exploration of the poetic and mundane, while also highlighting the ways text can be both an image and a message. The limited edition piece is hand-signed, underlining its exclusivity and collectible value.

What is New Topographics?
New Topographics is a term coined in 1975 by curator William Jenkins to describe a group of photographers whose work focused on formal black-and-white images of urban and industrial landscapes. Jenkins initially described their aesthetic as banal, but the photographers themselves argued that their compositions were as significant as those of natural landscapes, emphasizing the beauty in everyday, man-made environments.
