// Antoni Tàpies' 'Memoria Personal' is a 1988 lithograph that embodies the artist's exploration of memory, identity, and the physicality of art. Dominated by a vivid red background, the composition features bold black text that reads 'Memòria Personal,' alongside abstract gestures and splashes. The smudges and spontaneous brushwork evoke a raw, emotional intensity, typical of Tàpies' style. The inclusion of scribbled lines and forms hints at the intersection of the personal and universal, as if the work captures a moment of reflection or inner thought. The piece’s bold color and expressive marks communicate a deep sense of personal history, memory, and existential inquiry.

What is Tachisme?
Tachisme is a French abstract painting style that gained popularity between 1940 and 1950, often seen as the European counterpart to Abstract Expressionism. However, there are stylistic differences between the two. Tachisme, which emerged from Art Informel, rejected geometric abstraction in favor of more intuitive and spontaneous expression. It was a reaction against the structured forms of Cubism and is closely related to Informalism. Tachisme emphasizes gestural brushwork, irregular forms, and a focus on the process of painting itself.
